What is O-Cresolphthalein CAS 596-27-0?

O-cresol phthalein is a white to light yellow crystalline powder. Melting point 216 ~ 217℃. Soluble in alcohol, ether and glacial acetic acid, slightly soluble in water, insoluble in benzene, soluble in dilute alkali. Used as an acid-base indicator in analytical chemistry. It has similar chemical structure and physical and chemical properties to phenolphthalein, and its color discoloration range is 8.2(colorless)-9.8(red)(Phenolphthalein color discoloration range is 8.2-10). Its acid structure is colorless lactone form, and its base structure is quinone form and appears red.
