Molybdenum trioxide, also known as molybdic anhydride, has a molecular weight of 143.94. A white transparent rhombohedral crystal with a slight green color, which turns yellow when heated and returns to its original color after cooling. Density 4.692g/cm3, melting point 795 ℃, boiling point 1155 ℃, easy to sublime. Extremely soluble in water, soluble in acid, alkali, and ammonia solutions.

Molybdenum trioxide is used as a reducing agent for phosphorus pentoxide, arsenic trioxide, hydrogen peroxide, phenols, and alcohols. It is also used in the manufacture of molybdenum salts and alloys, and as a raw material for the production of metallic molybdenum and molybdenum compounds. Used as a catalyst in the petroleum industry. It can also be used for enamel, glaze, pigment, and medicine.
